EU Energy Commissioner speaks out on Ireland's Approach to Energy in Buildings & Commends Fingal

On Tuesday, March 21 2006, EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs visited Dublin in the aftermath of the publication of a Green Paper on Energy in Europe.

Construct Ireland editor Jeff Colley spoke to the Commissioner about his view on Ireland's delaying of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, on the role of buildings as electricity producers, and on Fingal County Council's ground-breaking decision that new buildings must draw 30% of their space and water heating from renewable energy, and consume no more than 50kWh/m2 per annum for water and space heating.
